I love funk, soul, and R & B music and in Whatcom County, Baby Cakes is doing that very well. I enjoy handling social media and publicity for them. Its one of the reasons I love my job. When I pitched and wrote this article for WhatcomTalk.com, my intention was clear. I wanted everyone to know that my dedication as a fan of Baby Cakes isn’t just about the music, its about the real people that make up this 9-piece band of creative musicians.
Stephanie’s light shines brightly on stage and its one of the reasons her fans (and I) return to every show to hear some of the same songs over and over. But what keeps me engaged with what the band does between shows, what keeps me checking their calendar, is the chance to know them just a bit better through social media, and through articles about them like this one.
A customer may like your product when introduced, and they may even tell their friends about it if they are satisfied after using it. But what successful companies do is to remind their customer that no substitute will do, that no one else can do it better. Your goal should be that your customer won’t be able to forget where the product came from and that when its time to buy again, your business is the only source that will satisfy.
That connection, that bonding, happens when people feel like the know the people behind the business. I don’t let lettuce wilt in my refrigerator because I’ve met the farmer that grows it. I’ve been to the field it came from. Now that I know the members of Baby Cakes better, I might feel guilty going to see another soul band forming in Whatcom County.
There are many ways to help customers get to know the humans behind the business machine. Social media and a quality web site are the easiest ways to accomplish that today. Let me help you strategize and prioritize those resources so your customers can really connect and bond to your brand, product, or services.
